Depending on the quantum of mistakes, you may, either, have to discard the page and insert a new page in the typewriter or use correcting fluid or tape to hide the mistakes.

1. Cut and Paste

In this lesson, Cut Copy Paste Delete in Word, you will see a small demonstration of how to cut a block of text and paste the same block in another area. This is the first of the demos to show you all the options on Cut Copy Paste Delete in Word document.

Just refer to the small movie clip-1 below. Press the "Play" button at the bottom of Movie Clip-1.

Step 1. Once the cursor has been positioned at the correct place where you wish to start the block, keep the left mouse button pressed while you drag the mouse to create the block of text. Once, the block covers what you want, release the left mouse button. The required block of text is now highlighted.

Step 2. As shown in the movie clip, press the "Cut" option in the "Edit" Menu. This will make the highlighted block disappear.

Step 3. Now, position your cursor at the place where you want the block of text to appear. When I say 'position the cursor', I mean click the left mouse button at the place where you want the text to appear. You will see the blinking cursor at this place.

Step 4. From the "Edit" Menu, press "Paste" option as shown in the movie. The block of text now appears at the new place.

2. Copy and Paste

In the previous section of Cut Copy Paste Delete in Word topic, you learnt how to Cut & Paste a block of text.

Now the next variant is how to copy a block of text and paste the same block in another area. The difference between the two is that "Cut and Paste" will remove the block from the first place and put it in the new place whereas "Copy and Paste" will create a duplicate of the block at the new place retaining the block at the old place also.

Just refer to the small movie clip-2 below. Press the "Play" button at the bottom of Movie Clip-2.

Step 1. Once the cursor has been positioned at the correct place where you wish to start the block, keep the left mouse button pressed while you drag the mouse to create the block of text. Once, the block covers what you want, release the left mouse button. The required block of text is now highlighted.

Step 2. The next step in cut copy paste delete in Word, as shown in movie clip-2, is to press the "Copy" option in the "Edit" Menu. In case, you cannot find Copy option in the Personalized Menu, then press the double down arrow button to display the full set of options.

Step 3. Now, position your cursor at the place where you want the block of text to appear. When I say 'position the cursor', I mean click the left mouse button at the place where you want the text to appear. You will see the blinking cursor at this place.

Step 4. From the "Edit" Menu, press "Paste" option as shown in the movie. The block of text now appears at the new place as well as the old place. This amounts to duplication of a block of text.

3. Cut and Delete

In this section of Cut Copy Paste Delete in Word topic, you will learn how to cut a block of text and delete it from the document. In other words, you are discarding that block of text.

Just refer to the movie clip-3 below. Press the "Play" button at the bottom of Movie Clip-3.

Step 1. Highlight the required block of text for the Cut and Delete operation. If you wish to know how to highlight a block of text, please refer to earlier sections on "Cut and Paste" or "Copy and Paste".

Step 2. As shown in the first half of the movie clip-3, press the "Cut" option in the "Edit" Menu. This will make the highlighted block disappear. In other words, the block is deleted.

Step 3. You can achieve this through another menu option. This is shown in the second half of the movie clip-3. Go to "Edit" Menu, choose "Clear" and further choose "Contents". This will also delete the block. You can use either Step 2 or Step 3 to delete a block.
