  5. Enter Key

    Input Information into Word Document
Enter Key plays an important role when you input information into Word document. If you have worked with a typewriter, the handle on the right serves two purposes. One, when you press the handle, the paper advances to the next line. In technical terms, this is called Line Feed. Second, while pressing the handle when you push the spindle, you are going to the left extreme of the page on the new line. Again, in technical terms, going to the left extreme is known Carriage Return.

Enter Key has similar function as the typewriter, just explained. In a Word Document, when you press the Enter Key, you are actually instructing the computer to give a Line Feed as well as a Carriage Return.

When you press the Enter Key, you are advancing to the next line and to the left edge of the page.

When the Enter Key is pressed, you are also breaking a paragraph and going to the next paragraph. So, if you wish to continue within a paragraph, do not press Enter Key but keep on typing. When you reach the right margin, the word document will automatically word wrap and continue on the next line.

  6. Escape Key

Escape Key is a general purpose escape route if you have executed some wrong command when you input information into Word document. Of course, it will not always help you. But, you can try it as a first step.

If you have clicked on a wrong icon or pressed a wrong command, first try Escape Key. If it does not help, then only look for other alternative solution.
